Purplette Onion

Purplette onions are a type of small, mini-onion known for their glossy, rich burgundy skin, which turns a pastel pink when cooked or pickled. They can be harvested early as bunching onions or allowed to mature into larger, pearl-sized bulbs. Purplette onions are milder and sweeter than their red onion counterparts, making them great for salads, pickling, and other culinary uses.

  • Flavor: Mild and sweet, with less pungency than regular red onions.

  • Uses: Raw in salads, pickled, roasted, or used in various recipes where a mild onion flavor is desired.
